As the title suggests, my audition for Miss SDL 2009. I highly doubt I'll even make it as far as the first round, but it looks fun and will give me something to do during the summer.
I was debating whether to add dragonflies, butterflies, fireflies, etc, but in the end decided that "ladybirds" or "ladybugs" fit the situation nicely. Thanks to  for helping me with the hanko. I hope it looks okay!Ref used: [link]    |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. I made my avi in photoshop. I will not make one for you. Don't ask. Don't steal.
Are the ladybirds supposed to be the focus? (Lol that should be so obvious from the title, but i'm asking anyway. XD) Because if they are, then it's fine, but if the girl is the focus, I see her very subdued by the brightness of the ladybirds.
But... don't trust me on that. D: My color theory sucks. Just my two cents, because I felt a little bad just leaving "Ohh pretty!"
The girl was the main subject... my sketches had only a teeny tiny ladybug or two floating around. I'm not sure when I decided, or why, to make the ladybugs eye-scarring. Random whim, I guess. I don't think enough when painting on the computer (must be all those cheatery tools hovering centimeters away...).
So don't ask me if the ladybirds were meant to be the main focus. They just appeared.
